Michael Donovan, Chairman & CEO – DHX Media Ltd
Michael Donovan is Chairman & CEO of DHX Media Ltd., a leading international producer and distributor of television programming and interactive content with an emphasis on children, family and youth markets. Mr. Donovan co-founded Halifax Film in 2004, now a subsidiary of DHX Media, a corporate holding company he listed on the TSX and AIM exchanges in 2006 in an IPO that raised $21 million. As well, he co-founded the Canadian production company Salter Street Films in 1983, which he listed on the TSX in 1998 and sold to Alliance Atlantis Communications in 2001.
Michael Donovan has over 20 years experience creating, financing, producing and marketing Canadian film and television programming. His work in the Canadian television and film industry has been recognized with numerous Gemini Awards, three International Emmy nominations, a Primetime Emmy nomination and an Academy Award for the feature documentary Bowling for Columbine.
Mr. Donovan is currently the Executive Producer of the hit comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes, SXV, the motion-capture CG animation pre-school series, Bo on the Go! , the CG animation pre-school series Animal Mechanicals and the live action puppet show The Mighty Jungle. As well, he is Producer for the recently released feature film Shake Hands with the Devil based on retired General Romeo Dallaire's award-winning book of the same name.
Michael Donovan currently serves as Chairman for the Board of NSCAD.
Charles Bishop, Executive Producer/President
Charles Bishop's producer credits include the Academy Award winning feature documentary Bowling for Columbine and numerous television series such as the highly acclaimed CBC pre-school series POKO. Operating his own production company until 1998, Bishop merged with Salter Street Films and began managing the company's production slate including the notable series Made in Canada/The Industry, Emily of New Moon, This Hour Has 22 Minutes and The Awful Truth. In 2001, he took on the job of overseeing television series (fiction) worldwide for Alliance Atlantis Entertainment.
In 2004, with Michael Donovan, he co-founded Halifax Film, which is now publicly traded as DHX Media in Toronto and on London’s AIM Exchange.
As well as being President, Charles continues to produce film and television programs, most recently; Lunar Jim a pre-school series for CBC and BBC, POKO also for CBC and Bo on the GO! a new motion-capture CG animation pre-school series. Charles is Co-Creator and Executive Producer on the new one hour Global primetime drama series The Guard, set in the world of the Coast Guard and currently in production in B.C.

Floyd Kane, VP Creative and Business Affairs
Floyd Kane graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1996. After articling with Blake, Cassels and Graydon in Toronto, Floyd was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998. As Legal Counsel, Salter Street Films Limited from 1999 to 2004, Floyd has practiced extensively in the field of Film and Entertainment Law. In conjunction with his role as Legal Counsel, Floyd served as Production Executive on numerous projects, notably the Academy Award-winning Bowling For Columbine, Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion, POKO – Cycles I and II and Lexx - Cycle IV.
In April of 2004 Floyd Kane joined Halifax Film, assuming the position of Vice-President, Creative and Business Affairs. In this role, Floyd is responsible for initiating and pursuing creative properties on behalf of the company, as well as for all production business and legal affairs for Halifax Film. Floyd has been instrumental in the development of productions based on the Governor General's Literary Award Winning book Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed The World by author Margaret MacMillan and on the award-winning The Hanging of Angelique by noted Black Canadian scholar Afua Cooper, as well as in the development of the legal drama The System, and the upcoming feature film on Lt. General Romeo Dallaire's book, Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda.
Recently, he created and produced the six-pack dramatic series, NORTH/SOUTH, a soap set in Nova Scotia’s construction industry broadcast on CBC Television in July 2006, and he is co-executive producing the Rwandan-set feature film Shake Hands With the Devil, to be released Fall of 2007.
As a participant in the film and television community in the Atlantic Region, Floyd serves on the boards of the Atlantic Film Festival Association and the Atlantic Film-Makers Co-operative (AFCOOP) and is a programmer with the ReelWorld Film Festival in Toronto.
